SF RICHMOND  YOUTH CHESS TOURNAMENT SUMMER 2023

Date: Saturday, August 26, 2023

Time: 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm

 

Open To Players Ages 5-18. Must know the basic rules of chess to play.

Open to players ages 5 to 18 years old who know the basic rules of chess.

Check-In Time: 12:30pm (all participants must check-in before start time)

 

Start Time: 12:50pm; Expected End Time: 5:00pm, the Beginner & Novice Sections may conclude much earlier. 

1) Beginner Section: For players who are new to chess or have very little tournament experience. Age Restriction 9 and under. Players ages 10 and up must play in the Novice Section.

2) Novice Section: Suggested for players who have played in tournaments or players who are ages 10 to 18 years old. Players under 10 years old may play in this section.  

​

3) US Chess Federation Rated Section (most competitive section): For players who want to receive a national ranking from the US Chess Federation. Must have a valid & current US Chess Federation membership to play in this section, to renew or join please visit www.uschess.org to pay for your membership. 

1) Standard US Chess Federation Rules followed.

2) Time Control G/15;D/5, Game Time 15 Minutes with 5 Seconds Delay. Each player gets 15 minutes at the start of the round with a 5 seconds delay per move. A clock may be assigned to a player’s table at any moment during the tournament. For Beginner and Novice Section if a clock is assigned the Tournament Director will explain the rules.

3) Number of Rounds: 4 Non-Elimination Rounds. All players will get to play all 4 rounds regardless of win or loss results.

4) Awards: Medal or Trophies to top 3 players in each section.
